Second Week of Advent—December 7, 2014
Mark 1:1-8, 2 Peter 3:8-15, Psalm 85: 1-2, 8-13, Isaiah 40: 1-11
Furrows, be glad. Though earth is bare,
One more seed is planted there:
Give up your strength the seed to nourish,
That in course the flower may flourish.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the Rose, is on the way.
“People, Look East” by Eleanor Farjeon
The United Methodist Hymnal, No. 202
Questions for Reflection:
Why would Jesus be described as a rose?
In what ways have you experienced the sweet fragrance of new life in Christ?
Who has made a way for you to know the love and grace of Christ?
How are you making a way for someone to experience the love and grace of Christ?
Prayer: Gracious God, help me to experience the sweet fragrance of Jesus in fresh, new ways this Advent. Tend the gift of grace you have planted in me and use me to make a way for others to know your love and grace. Love, the Rose, is on the way. Amen.
